This year's best graduation speech is by 4 ESO A student Elena Palacio, who has not only written a warm commencement address, but she delivered it with passion, in style and grace, and with fine pronunciation, intonation and stance, and with remarkable composure, serenity and good spirit.
As usual, this student is the chosen one to speak on behalf of his classmates at the 4 ESO graduation ceremony to be held at 1 pm on Friday 21st June.
101 TIMES
Hello everybody, parents, teachers, classmates and guests. Welcome to our graduation and thanks for coming.
This day is very important for all of us because a big change is coming to our lives. I would not like to call it the end, because actually I think this is a beginning. From now on, we have to make some decisions that could influence a lot on our future. We have to make some mistakes to learn, but as Denzel Washinton once said, if you do not fail, you are not even trying.
Seven years ago, I stepped into this school and I was afraid because, even though you do not think I am a very shy person, guess what, I am! I was 9 years old and if you had asked me what I would like to be when I grow up, my answer would have been hairdresser. I remember I was alone having lunch in the playground when Laura came running to me and said: Hi, I am Laura, do you want to be my friend? Then she introduced me to all my classmates and the fear disappeared.
Since then, I have got lots of good memories. Some of them helped me to keep going forward, like when Jose told my parents that I had an ability to transmit my feelings. Others are just funny like when Laura and I got stuck in the bathroom and trying to get out, we broke the door and we were so afraid because we knew it was not right, but nobody knew that, well just until now...
When we started secondary school, teachers were more strict and they were worried about us and about how we should keep going in a good way. I think it is because at this stage hormones dominate us and we don’t know why do we do all that we do.
In this stage, I also started thinking about what I am going to be. I made my first important decision, and I think if you ask me, I want to become a graphical designer.
There is something I would really like to mention: in last year's Erasmus project I met very good people and I had the pleasure to meet Rocío as a very good friend of mine, also, even though she is not here right now to hear this, I met a great person with an enormous heart and luckily, although she is 2853 km far away from here, we still keep in touch. Her name is Jagoda and she is my best friend.
But now that our time at Labor school has ended, I would like to thank my friends for all of the happiness they have made me feel; to all the teachers because they had to deal with me during all these years; and also to my parents and relatives for all their support: without their help I would not have been able to be here today. I also need to mention a special person for me, my brother, Diego, because without him I would not have passed Manolo’s exams.
And now it is time to look up to the future, to imagine our lives, and what we want to do. Someone told me once never stop creating until the idea 101, so if you do not know what you want to do with your life, close your eyes and think about things you like... but go far, do not keep the first idea in your mind, keep the best one, and once you get it, make it real.
If you ask me now what I want to be when I grow up, I will say that I want to be happy. Sometimes it is going to be hard and I know that, but life is not easy... so just relax, let things happen and also make dreams come true.
I wish the best to all of you and remember: never stop until 101 creations, dreams, ideas or whatever you want.
And now, thank you for your attention and enjoy the delicious snacks because they are waiting for us.
