As usual, this student was the chosen one to speak on behalf of their 4 ESO classmates at the graduation ceremony on Friday 21st June.

 

BE HAPPY WITHOUT HURTING ANYONE

 

Good afternoon, parents, classmates and teachers. Thank you for being here.

Today is a very special day for me and my classmates, so I will try to treat it like that, even being as nervous as I am about speaking in front of you all. Sorry for my possible babbling, by the way.

 

First, I would like to ask you something: have you ever felt scared? Not scared of a horror movie, but scared of the future, of the changes... Well, I have felt that way, and I am sure that most of you also have. So, what do you think if we try to fight that fear? When we were kids, we played to be adults. We wanted to grow up fast because we thought that adult life would be incredible, but now that we have grown, we are worried about the future. I am not one to give you advice, but I have seen that there is something that some of us curiously ignore: the present, and to understand the present, we need to remember the past first.

I hardly remember my first day at school, but I remember my first friends, my first teachers, my best and worst moments... All of these moments have something in common, the people you share them with. Because even in the worst moment and even if you are someone introvert, reserved, or shy like me, I can promise you  that you will find somebody determined to help you, someone who tells you to go ahead because if things get tough, he or she will be with you. I am lucky to have a mentor like that: she is my mother because I couldn't have got where I am without her, so thank you, mum.

 

I would also like to thank some people for their support, their trust and their help. Thank you, Santi, for telling me what homework we had when I didn't have it written down; thank you, Diego, for all those times you made me laugh; thank you, Raúl, for your support in my bad moments; thank you, Paula, for being the best teacher; thank you, Pilar, for your History classes; thank you, Raquel and Álvaro, for trusting and believing in me; and thanks to all the teachers, classmates and everybody who, although I don’t have time to mention, I want you all to know that nothing of this would be possible without you.

 

And now, leaving this aside. I supposedly have to talk about the future, but do you remember what I said at the beginning of the speech? We have to live in the present without forgetting the future, because now that we remember the past, we know that in future troubles someone will be there to help us, and if there is no one, there will certainly be.

 

Also remember that you are your best partner, so don’t stay with people you don’t want to be with only for fear of being alone, and if you make a mistake, you can always try again, because even if it doesn’t turn out well, it’s worth trying.

 

After saying that, I have wishes and one more piece of advice: I wish you a happy and safe end-of-school trip, I wish you the best future you can imagine, I wish you a good summer... be happy without hurting anyone, that is my advice.

 

And finally, after this dense speech, I hope you enjoy the snacks and drinks served on the school yard.

MISTAKES

Good afternoon to everyone and thank you so much for coming on such a special day!

Today is an exciting day, exciting because we are finally graduating in this amazing school. But it´s also a sad day, sad because we are leaving a place we all have shared for the last 13 years.

First, I want to say sorry because, as you can see, I´m nervous and I´ll probably make some mistakes. Well, you know what? I don’t care because that’s life, life is made up of mistakes. I’m sure that none of you is where you are thanks to making no mistakes, I’m completely sure that all of you are where you are thanks to loads of mistakes.

I still remember when I was a child and wanted to grow up, because when you’re a child, growing up is the most exciting thing in life and you just want to grow. Now that I´m not that young, I´ve realized that growing up is not as exciting as it was and that we must stop thinking about tomorrow and start thinking about today. We must enjoy this time of our lives because the teens are the best years in life. I’m sure that your best anecdotes are from your adolescence and that, if you could, you’d give anything to get back to your teens, even only for one day.

Putting memories aside, I would like to say thanks, obviously, to my mother and my father. They´ve raised me to be a good person and have always helped me always with any problem. To my brother and my sister. They are everything for me, they have always been there when I needed them. I’d also like to thank all my friends; in part, this wouldn’t be possible without them. I’d love to thank them individually, but that would take all day.

I’d also like to thank some teachers: Álvaro, thanks for teaching us the importance of English and that we have to translate ideas, not words. Javi, thanks for those whole classes talking about the bitcoin. Pilar, thanks for teaching us History and for those classes telling you our anecdotes. Manolo, thanks for teaching us Physics and Chemistry and that when being clean and organised you´re half way to pass. Leo, thanks for 2 teaching us Technology, Technical drawing, etc. And why Microsoft Word 2003 is the best one in life. Of course, Marta and Hugo, because even though we haven´t known you for a long time, it looks like we do. In general, I’d like to thank you all for being so patient with us in these 13 years here and for being, instead of our teachers, our friends. 

But let´s stop talking about the past, let’s talk about the future. Well, I don’t really know what to say about the future, because I don’t know what I want. I thought that I knew, but I was wrong, but that´s OK, life is made up of mistakes. It doesn’t really matter if you fail, nobody is going to remember your mistakes in the future, so fail once, twice, no matter how many times, just fail. You learn more from mistakes than from success.

I don’t like to say this, but this is probably our last day together, in this amazing school, so I can only wish you one thing, good luck in life my friends, I’m sure life will smile at you.

But don’t get sad, as I’ve said before, we have to live the present, so please enjoy the snacks and drinks served on the schoolyard.

Best 2022 Graduation Speech, by Jakob Cabaleiro: "What do I know?"

As usual, this student is the chosen one to speak on behalf of their 4 ESO classmates at the graduation ceremony to be held at 1 pm on Wednesday 22nd June.

WHAT DO I KNOW?

Good afternoon, everybody!

Thank you very much for attending this ceremony. I’ve practiced this speech in class and at home, but… gosh, it’s just not the same with all you here. And, I mean, why shouldn’t it? Today’s the day! Today’s the fricking day! Now, where was I? Right. I hadn’t even started yet. So, what I was about to say is that… I don’t know. I may have thought I knew when I wrote this, or when I practised it… I may even think I know it right now. But the truth is that I don’t. In a few minutes, days, weeks, months or years, I’ll look back at this speech and think: “what the hell was I saying there?” Let me explain:

You’ve probably heard the stories of kids who wanted to be cowboys, astronauts or aristocrats, later football stars, firefighters or aristocrats, and now scientists, teachers or, you guessed it, cryptobros. You can see a gradual change from cool to normal, except for the ones who just want to be rich and do nothing. Don’t get me wrong, that’s cool, but not very realistic, and… I’m drifting away again. So, for me, it was a bit different.

First, I wanted to be on the telly, then I wanted to be a sports journalist, after that, I wanted to write about movies, and now I want to make movies. You can see that change there too, just into another direction. Instead of going from the most to the least cool, it goes from the most to the least rich. The funny thing, however, is that, back when I still wanted to just be on the telly, I was asked if I ever wanted to make movies. And my answer was: “Of course not, why would I?” But what did I know back then?

Looking back now at that chain of desires, you can see a thread uniting all of my ideas. The thing is: I’ve always loved stories. And even though I also liked to tell them, I preferred hearing them. And even so, it wasn’t one of my main hobbies. Audiobooks were rare, books were acceptable, movies were okay, and comic books just existed. That changed in 2016, when I was invited to the cinema for someone’s birthday. I’m sorry I don’t remember whose it was, but I think it was Beltrán’s or Victor’s. One of the

two invited me to his birthday and the other one spent the entire movie answering my questions about who that guy was, or that other one. The movie, I remember. Captain America: Civil War made me love a movies like never before. It’s not a perfect movie, but at that time it was a lot better than other movies I’d watched at the cinema, say Mall Cop 2 or the Annie remake. Additionally, it made me want to know more about the characters I’d seen. That’s how I got into superhero movies, which eventually led me to the entirety of cinema.

But these superhero movies also had another effect on me. I started comparing my choices with those these characters would take. And, since then, this moral compass is something I’m deeply grateful for.

And all these superheroes go back to Superman, the ultimate archetype. So one could say that the ones responsible for how I am right now are, besides Víctor and Beltrán, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the creators of the Big Blue.

But that’s of course not everything. It’s impossible to get through sixteen  years of life without any help whatsoever. That’s why I’d like to thank my mum, my dad and especially my brother for always trying to answer my ridiculous questions. Then I would also like to thank my friends. The… the seven of them. They know who they are. Also, my teachers, all of them. That’s too many to name one by one, and I’d probably forget some, so I’m only going to highlight Lorena, the first teacher I had in my entire life, and Cándido, who still was teaching us with all his energy less than a year before his passing. Additionally, saying that my classmates were of no importance would be a lie, so thank YOU too. And congratulations for graduating (if you did) and have a nice end-of-year trip (if you’re coming).

Wow, graduation. Saying the word out loud and knowing it’s the day, knowing it’s your turn… makes you feel all grown-up. But, considering thaI will spend the next years of my life studying and learning even more, I see that I’m really not that grown-up. I think I’ve learned stuff in these thirteen

years here, but what do I know? Nothing.

Well, actually, there’s one thing that I DO know. I know for a fact that we have some nice drinks and desserts here, so please enjoy them, now that I’m done. Or am I? What do I know? I think I am. That’s all, folks!

"No Motivation", by Michael Kofuzi

 

A question I frequently get is "how do I stay motivated? When it’s cold out or when it’s dark. Don’t I ever just want to stay inside and skip my run?"

And the answer is of course I do. I’m only human. And yet, I still find a way to get out there and go for a run.

So how do I do it? The answer is that, long ago, I realized that motivation is unnecessary. Motivation is fickle. Motivation is fleeting. What you really want is momentum. That feeling you have when you’ve got a run streak going and you don’t want to break that streak. That’s momentum. It’s the inertia of you, set in motion. And a body in motion wants to stay in motion.

So get out there. Run. And keep showing up. The run might be terrible, but that’s the thing about running. Even a terrible run is worth something. Because even a terrible run keeps your momentum going. If you’re going to wait for a day when you’re feeling motivated, the only thing you’ll ever accomplish is waiting. So run when it’s dark. Run when it’s cold. Go. No more excuses. No more waiting.

And next time, when you don’t feel motivated to run. You can tell yourself. I don’t need motivation. I’ve been here before. The dark isn’t so dark. The cold isn’t so cold. I have built a habit. This is who I am. This is what I do. I have momentum.

Keep Trying, by María Aguiño Enero (4 ESO A)

Good afternoon everybody, classmates, families and teachers; welcome to our graduation and thanks for being here today.

After 13 long years at this school, the day has finally come. I’m not going to lie, I’m feeling a little bit homesick, but at the same time I’m very excited to see the changes that this new stage will bring.

Well, I really don’t know how to start, 13 years is a looong time, and I have so many memories, it’s very difficult to choose the best ones! Some are funny, some are boring, and some… are best left unsaid.

I remember my first class with Vallejo, and how scared I was; or the day when some girls from my class and I got stuck in the elevator with María Barbosa. And I have to confess that when Celia and I were 9 years old, we cheated in our exams; we felt very cool and a little scared, nobody knew it… until now, I’m sorry mom. Now that I have mentioned her, my mother told me that on the first day of school, when I got to the playground, I said very excited: I’m finally here!! Then we started secondary school, we were the little ones again, and the teachers were more strict. But suddenly, it turned into 4 years full of laughter in class, fear of having the irregular verbs exam, and a pandemic that has changed our life, and, sadly, our last years at Labor. But at the end of the day, I guess it’s part of our history.

Now that our chapter at Labor is finally closed, I would like to thank my friends and classmates for all the happiness we have shared, I wish you all the best for your future; I would also like to thank my family, my amazing parents and my two little brothers; all of the teachers, but especially a few: Ana, Vallejo, Leo, both Pablos, Pilar, and Cándido. I wish he was here today, I’m sure he would have pulled our ears; something I would like to mention is that Cándido was the one who told me to study Science, because he said that he could see that I like it, and well, he was right.

And last but not least, I would like to thank Celia, my partner in crime since we were 3 years old, probably one of the people who knows me best; she has always been there for me; it sounds very typical, but it’s true!

Now, I have to give you one piece of advice, I usually don’t like giving advice because what do I know that you don’t? When I started my way at this school, I was a little girl who wanted to be a Winx. Then, at 10, I wanted to be president. But, at 13, I didn’t know it; I was saying: “I don’t belong to no city, I don’t belong to no one, I’m free and I do what I want”. It looked like I knew who I was, but I was so wrong, because I was going to forget who I was and then I was going to find her again, and forget who I was and find her again… Like this through all my adolescence; if you could see my DinA5, you’ll see that I’m not lying; in fact, our teacher Leo can confirm it. But I think I have learned to stop being so hard on myself, for changing, for growing and for learning. So, if I do give you one piece of advice right now is that if you lose yourself or if you don’t know which way to go, it’s never too late to find yourself again, even if you fail, because that means that you are trying. Oh, in case you were wondering, now I think that if you ask me, I want to be a psychiatrist, but don’t pay too much attention to me, maybe tomorrow I’ll want to be an influencer.

Thanks for your attention, and enjoy the snacks that are waiting for us. And remember: keep trying, even if you fail.

When a door closes, another one opens up, by Alicia Fernández Framiñán (4 ESO B)

Good afternon,

I would like to thank my family, teachers and friends for coming here today to our graduation.

I am very happy today because we finally graduate and we begin a new stage in our lives, in which I will meet new people, discover new things and countries.

“When a door closes, another one opens up”, this is my motto, the end of something is the beginning of something new, a new stage in my life is about to open now.

I remember when my sister Carla and I took part in the dance competitions at school, we loved dancing, and we always finished in a good position, we got an applause from the public, diplomas, medals and recognition; it was great! What beautiful memories!

My role model is my mum because she has helped me and has always been there, and because of her permanent effort, I love you! I would not have got where I am today without my effort, my teachers’ support and specially the help of my family, my mum and my grandmother: thanks for being there!

Thanks to my parents, family, and friends for being here today with me sharing this very exciting moment. Thank you, Jose, for supporting me and for being a good friend, thanks for everything.

My expectations for the future are getting a vocational training degree in Trade and Marketing. I see myself working for a company, making adds, designing campaigns, selling products and services, helping clients and customers, I am very excited to start. “When a door closes another one opens up”, this is my motto.

I would like also to thank my classmates, I wish you a good end of the schoolyear; I hope we could be together again in the future; let's keep in touch. I hope that you will have a nice life, reach your objectives, make your dreams come true and be the same person you are: I love you, guys!

This last year has been affected by Covid19: wearing a mask in class and keeping social distance without touching anything was horrible. I would like to kindly remember our teacher Candido who is no longer with us, I specially remember when he pointed out a finger, shouting at us, during Chemistry class: “First signs, then numbers”.

I feel ready for a new life that is starting today! Thank you all and take care!

Bolsas de inmersión lingüística 2020

Axudas para alumnado de ESO e BACH para formarse en linguas estranxeiras 2020

A Consellería de Educación publicou a Orde do ORDE do 10 de febreiro de 2020 pola que se convocan axudas para a realización de actividades de formación en linguas estranxeiras no ano 2020, destinadas ao alumnado dos centros docentes sostidos con fondos públicos.

REQUISITOS: 

• Estar cursando 1º, 2º, 3º e 4º da educación secundaria obrigatoria,1º ou 2º de bacharelato en centros sostidos con fondos públicos que impartan ensinanzas de réxime xeral, durante o curso 2019/20, na Comunidade Autónoma de Galicia.
• Ter superadas todas as áreas ou materias no curso 2018/19.
• Ter acadado no curso 2018/19 unha cualificación mínima de ben no 6º curso de educación primaria para o alumnado de 1º de educación secundaria obrigatoria, e de 6 para o de 2º, 3º e 4º de Educación Secundaria Obrigatoria e de bacharelato na materia de lingua inglesa.
• Para as actividades de integración, estar matriculado/a, no curso 2019/20, nun centro da Rede de centros plurilingües.
• Non ter concedida, no presente curso académico, outra axuda coa mesma finalidade.
• Non estar incurso nas prohibicións para obter a condición de beneficiario,  recollidas na Lei 9/2007, do 13 de xuño, de subvencións de Galicia.
• Estar en posesión do DNI, NIE ou pasaporte.

CONCEPTOS FINANCIADOS 

• No caso das actividades que se realicen no estranxeiro, os gastos da viaxe desde o punto de saída dos distintos grupos.
• Os monitores ou monitoras que acompañarán o alumnado en cada un dos grupos durante a actividade.
• Os gastos de docencia e o material escolar.
• As actividades culturais, deportivas e complementarias dos cursos.
• Os gastos de mantenza e aloxamento.
• O certificado de realización da actividade.
• O seguro de accidentes e de responsabilidade civil.
• As familias achegarán as cantidades que lles correspondan á empresa adxudicataria encargada da organización técnica da actividade (ver convocatoria no DOG).

DATAS: O período de realización destas actividades comprenderá desde a última semana do mes de xuño ata finais do mes de agosto de 2020, coa excepción das actividades de integración, que se desenvolverán no inicio do curso 2020/21. As datas concretas de realización das actividades daranse a coñecer coa publicación das listaxes definitivas do alumnado seleccionado.

Hello everybody, parents, teachers, classmates and guests. Welcome to our graduation and thanks for coming.

This day is very important for all of us because a big change is coming to our lives. I would not like to call it the end, because actually I think this is a beginning. From now on, we have to make some decisions that could influence a lot on our future. We have to make some mistakes to learn, but as Denzel Washinton once said, if you do not fail, you are not even trying.

Seven years ago, I stepped into this school and I was afraid because, even though you do not think I am a very shy person, guess what, I am! I was 9 years old and if you had asked me what I would like to be when I grow up, my answer would have been hairdresser. I remember I was alone having lunch in the playground when Laura came running to me and said: Hi, I am Laura, do you want to be my friend? Then she introduced me to all my classmates and the fear disappeared.

Silence

What it takes to climb the world’s first 9c? Let’s find out in Silence, a movie by Bernardo Giménez. It shows what preceded the afternoon of September 3rd 2017 when Adam Ondra, a professional rock climber and currently one of the best climbers in the world, made a little piece of climbing history.

If you work hard, you may fail;

if you don't work, you have already failed.

The harder I work, the luckier I get.

The only secret to success is work, hard, relentless, daily, stubborn work. Nothing comes easily nor effortlessly, nothing comes for free — not even to the best students, the best artists or top-ranked sportspeople. If you want to succeed in whatever endeavour you take up, the only way is through work: there's no shortcut. If you fail, if you fall, you've got to stand up and fight...

... just as Adam Ondra and Chris Sharma, two of the best climbers in the world, show in these videoclips. Of course, Ondra and Sharma have been gifted by nature, no question about that, but their talent would be completely useless without their work ethics, without their persistence and determination... not to mention careful, conscientious, thorough previous planning and organization, leaving as little as possible to chance and improvisation.

Take a look at the very last shot in the first videoclip when the camera is moving away from the cave and notice how small Ondra is, how small and insignificant all of us are when compared to nature... If you want the best in any walk of life (at school, at sport, at arts, friendship or love), first you've got to give the best.

Take a look now at the second videoclip and count how many times each climber fails and falls down. And what happens? They don't give up, they don't quit, they don't surrender... they try again! And again and again and again! That's the only recipe, that's the only prescription, that's the only way.

HAPPINESS and PRIDE

Welcome parents, family, guests and teachers. Thank you for being here on this important day.

Today is a day of happiness and pride. First of all, congratulations to all of you, classmates and friends, for being here today, for having spent all these years studying, having lessons and working hard to have a good future and improve your learning and your life.

  

I came to this school in 2006 in the second year of kindergarten. On my first day, that day when all of us were wearing our red sweatshirt, our blue trousers and our checkered apron. Some of us were crying because we didn’t want to say bye to our parents. And today, on our last day at this school, we will cry again because we will not want to say bye to Labor School. That day, the kindergarten first day, the day that no one remembers, is the day that has marked us. We didn't even know it yet, but on that day our student career started at Labor School.

During our first few years here, we learned the Little Einstein´s dance to make a spaceship take off and not to talk when the teacher wasn't in the classroom and a classmate used to write names on the board.

At the end of kindergarten, we had the first graduation of our lives and we started Primary Education, another day of happiness and pride. Primary will be always the best time of a student career. When you are in Primary you don´t have to study much, you don’t have many problems or worries and your life is always fun. You draw a picture every week explaining what you did on your weekend, you listen to the Christmas Lottery live, you learn verb tables, multiplication tables, tables, tables and more tables. We did mathematical competitions during the lessons, we did the 'Baker Game' in PE, we took part in an amazing athletics competition with other schools (where we won just one trophy, but it doesn´t matter). There, we also learned the importance of sharing thanks to María Aguiño's and Ana Collazo's "700 kilos Goal". Primary ended with the goodbye to some classmates and the arrival of others. But we stayed together in the same classes and in the same groups.

But you continue growing up and you move on to Secondary Education. You are now in the last part of your time at school, you will have now 8 different teachers and you will have to start working harder than before. You have been seeing those people, who seemed very serious and some a little unfriendly, for years during the breaks, and now they are your teachers. Now you take lessons in the older students' building, that white and green building. 

The first day of Secondary comes. This day is your first time entering the Secondary building with the other Secondary students and you find yourself waiting to go upstairs in this crowded hall and surrounded by people as tall as a tower. In our first few years here we started with the Galician definition pages, with the DIN A5, with Candido's scary tests written in black ink on his graph paper. We took up French, a strange language, Word, Qkad, and Sketchup exams, Cooper tests, irregular verbs tests and all the presentations in public. Here we had the flute tests that shook our pulse. And we started the Olympic teams.

During all these years, there have been times of distress; there were happy moments too and goals achieved in group. A group that wouldn't exist without you, teachers and parents. Thank you, teachers for putting up with our foolishness, for being so patient with us and for being more than teachers, friends and parents.

And parents, what can I say? We owe you a lot: all your support and unconditional effort every time you had to explain something to us over and over again, or help us organize our study time, or if you had to pay for coaching lessons or revise lessons with us. You have to know it was worth it.

This school has made a family from us, a big and strong family, both students and teachers. This family is now 13 years old; even if someone has joined in later, the link is very tight too.

Today, a day of happiness and pride, is the day when this period ends and the future starts, when our time at Labor School ends and a new period called high school starts.

Everything in life comes to an end and this speech too. And now we will make promises like… nothing is going to change, we will meet every month and we will chat most days. But life moves on and we have to move on too. This is not just an ending: this is a new beginning too. I hope you all have all the best of luck in the future. Not being together does not mean forgetting what we have lived and shared.

And there is one thing that we can promise. That when we walk past one of us down the street, we will think that this person was with us at Labor School and we will remember all the important and happy moments that we enjoyed with them in the past.

Today is a day of happiness and pride... Enjoy it! Thank you everybody and congratulations and all the best, my friends!

Xúntase a Orde do 23 de maio de 2018 pola que se aproban as bases e se convocan axudas para a realización de actividades formativas STEM en lingua inglesa, STEMweek, no ano 2018, en réxime de concorrencia competitiva, destinadas ao alumnado dos centros docentes sostidos con fondos públicos.

Best 2017 Graduation Speech, by Izan González.

This year's best graduation speech is by 4 ESO B student Izan González, who has not only written a nice farewell address, but he delivered it by heart in style and graciously, with fine pronunciation, entonation and stance, and with remarkable composure and serenity.

As usual, this student is the chosen one to speak on behalf of his classmates at the 4 ESO graduation ceremony to be held at 1 pm on Wednesday 21st June. 

Good afternoon! Parents, classmates, friends... and even teachers. I am here today because I just have graduated, that is why I am a little nervous, not everyone graduates. Thank you everybody for coming and listening to my speech. Today is the moment to say goodbye. Goodbye school, goodbye classmates, goodbye teachers...

I remember when I arrived at this school, it was in primary school, third grade. I was scared about coming here because I didn't know anyone at the school, but this fear disappeared when I met my new classmates. They gave me a lovely welcome and they made me feel at home. When I arrived, I was only eight years old, and today, at fifteen, I am saying goodbye. Not only to the school, but also to the teachers, those teachers who taught me very useful things in my life such as solving cube roots without a calculator, or the operation of the DNA inside the  nucleus. As I usually say, very useful things for our daily life. Since my arrival at this school, I have met a lot of teachers and classmates from whom I have learnt those things that have made me be here today, and I want to thank them.

First of all, I want to thank my parents, who support me every day and help me with everything related to school. Also to my friends, who help me through difficult times, to the Hispa Crew, who made me feel I belong to a group;, also to those teachers such as Leo who was my role model; and finally to the Wikipedia, which helped me in most of the PBLs that I had to do. To all these people I am saying goodbye today.

In the future I won't be able to remember all of them until the day Facebook will remind me of their existence. When I'll see them again, I want to see them as the biologists, doctors or lawyers that they are determined to become. I wish them all luck in their choices. But such as all the lives and all the speeches reach the end, this won't be an exception, and I want to end this speech saying goodbye. Goodbye to all of you and to my classmates: have a nice end of school trip!

Vigo en inglés 2017

Aberto prazo de presentación de solicitudes "Vigo en Inglés 2017" dende o xoves 2 ao mércores 15 de marzo de 2017.

Requisitos

Os adxudicatarios da presente convocatoria serán os alumnos e alumnas, españois ou estranxeiros con tarxeta de residencia ou de estancia por estudos en vigor, de centros educativos do Concello de Vigo sostidos con fondos públicos que cumpran os requisitos que a continuación se sinalan:

1. Estar a cursar 3.º da ESO nun centro educativo sostido con fondos públicos do Concello de Vigo durante o curso académico 2016/2017
2. Ter aprobadas todas as materias de 2.º de ESO.
3. Ter obtido como mínimo unha nota de 7 na materia de Lingua inglesa nas cualificacións finais de 2.º de ESO.
4. Estar empadroado no Concello de Vigo, con vixencia mínima dende o 01/01/2016 , dato que será comprobado de oficio pola propia administración.
5. Non ter concedida, no ano 2017, outra axuda coa mesma finalidade.
6. Ter DNI/NIE, permiso de residencia ou pasaporte en vigor cunha vixencia mínima de 6 meses.

Deberán solicitar as prazas os representantes legais (pai e nai ou titor/a legal) dos alumnos e alumnas.

O aloxamento

Os participantes residen, en réxime de pensión completa durante toda a súa estancia, con familias nativas escolmadas para a súa participación no programa.

As actividades

Despóis do xantar, realízanse diversas actividades, entre elas unha visita cultural a algún sitio de interese. Na fin de semana faise unha excursión dun día enteiro

Atención 24 horas

Os estudiantes e as súas familias dispoñen dun centro de atención telefónica 24 horas para resolver calquer cuestión que lles puidese xurdir.

Clases de reforzo

Durante a participación no programa, os rapaces reciben clases de reforzo e perfeccionamento de lingua inglesa.

Axudas “inmersión lingüística” primavera 2017

Convócanse 126 axudas para grupos de alumnos de 6.º de Primaria e 84 axudas para grupos de alumnos de 2.º ESO, coa fin de participar nun programa de inmersión en lingua inglesa entre os meses de abril e xuño de 2017 que se realizará en réxime de internado, en períodos semanais, de domingo pola tarde a sábado pola mañá.

Beneficiarios: alumnado matriculado en 6.º curso de Educación Primaria e 2.º de ESO durante o presente curso 2016/2017; ter obtido, como mínimo, “notable” como nota media do curso 2014-2015 e “notable” como nota final na asignatura de inglés no mesmo curso, así como non ter sido beneficiario da axuda en convocatorias anteriores. O alumnado debe estar matriculado en centros sostidos con fondos públicos, e viaxarán acompañados por dous profesores.

Prazo de presentación de solicitudes: ata o 6 de febreiro de 2017.

«Carta a mis alumnos suspensos», por Pablo Poo Gallardo

Espero que estés fastidiado por haber suspendido. Si te da igual es una mala, muy mala señal.

Siempre me preguntas lo mismo: “¿Para qué quiero estudiar si yo voy a trabajar en el campo?” o “¿Para qué quiero estudiar Lengua si voy a ser peluquera?”. No sabes nada de la vida; y no lo sabes porque lo tienes todo. A pesar de que en casa no entra mucho dinero, nunca te ha faltado de nada, porque tienes unos padres que se parten el lomo por ti para que, precisamente, nada te falte: tienes tu móvil, tus sudaderas un tanto horteras, te pagan tus botellones, tus videoconsolas. De puta madre todo.

Pero la vida no tiene nada que ver con la burbuja utópica en la que os envolvemos durante toda la ESO. La vida es una putada; y no te espera, no te comprende y no te hace recuperaciones. ¿Crees que cuando vayas a echar una beca fuera de plazo te van a aceptar la solicitud? Aquí puedes traer la autorización para una excursión cuando te salga del alma, hasta te la cogemos en la misma puerta del bus: pobrecito, no se vaya a traumatizar. ¿Crees que si no llegas a la nota media del ciclo que quieres estudiar vas a entrar por tu cara bonita? No, te vas a quedar en tu casa y te vas a comer tu título de secundaria con patatas.

La vida no es la ESO, desconfía de todos aquellos que quieren que seas feliz entre los 12 y los 16. Cuando seas mayor de edad les vas a importar un pimiento: “Hicimos todo lo que pudimos, adaptamos las asignaturas que no aprobaba, firmamos compromisos educativos por su mal comportamiento, le hicimos rellenar cuatrocientas doce fichas de reflexión… no entiendo qué pudo pasar”. Pasó que menos prepararos para la vida, hacen con vosotros de todo; y luego, en tu ciclo, cuando te pongan un examen de más de dos temas, no vas a tener genitales de aprobarlo. No porque seas tonto, sino porque no te hemos enseñado a estudiar, ni a esforzarte, ni a pensar. Y dejarás el ciclo y volverás a tu casa con un papel que pone que has terminado la ESO y que ya me contarás para qué te sirve. Pero los que quisieron hacerte feliz hasta los 16, hicieron todo lo que pudieron, no vayas a pedirles cuentas. Estarán liados con otra generación.

¿Qué clase de contrato vas a firmar, si no te enteras de lo que pone en los textos que leemos en clase? Cuando te des cuenta, y eso con suerte de que te contraten, habrás estampado tu firma sobre un sueldo de mierda o sobre una jornada laboral eterna. Y si no haces lo que te dicen y como te lo dicen, a la calle. No eres especial, hay treinta más como tú deseando coger ese hipotético puesto de trabajo. Hipotético significa supuesto. Supuesto, imaginado.

No te hace falta el Romanticismo para trabajar en el campo, tampoco para coger rulos, pero sí para saber que, hace doscientos años, unos cuantos tuvieron el valor suficiente para hacerles frente a las normas de una sociedad que creían injusta, con la que no se sentían identificados. Y tú, que no tienes referentes culturales, que leemos cualquier texto y, en cada línea, hay tres palabras que no entiendes porque es la primera vez que las escuchas, pensarás que hay cosas imposibles porque, simplemente, mientras rellenabas fichas de reflexión, nadie te enseñó que, antes que vuestra merced, varias generaciones ya lo habían conseguido.

Cuando te hablen desde el atril, aplaudirás como un idiota, te creerás sus monsergas; y todo porque no tienes sentido crítico. Porque nos tienen tan ocupados con la burocracia y con las nuevas triquiñuelas de cada ley educativa que nos imponen para aprobaros por la cara que ya no os enseñamos a pensar. Te echarás piedras sobre tu propio tejado sin darte cuenta, pero luego irás al bar y, en la barra, repetirás lo que quieren que repitas y, entre tus chapucillas y el paro, irás tirando.

Que no, que la vida no es como la ESO. Que estudiar asignaturas distintas te sirve para ampliar tu cultura y, con ella, tu mente. Parece mentira pero, en las mentes abiertas, es más difícil entrar. Una mente simple se conquista fácilmente, solo tiene una puerta. No puedes terminar una maratón si nunca has entrenado, por mucha capacidad física que tengas. No puedes terminar un ciclo o un bachillerato si antes no has adquirido un método y un hábito de esfuerzo y estudio.

Siéntete mal por no haber aprobado, piensa que tu futuro depende en gran parte de lo que hagas ahora. Y, a partir de enero, vas a venir aquí a dejarte la piel: vas a dejar de dormir en clase y pensar que no puedes solo porque no lo intentas; vas a demostrar que no necesitas que te bajemos el nivel, porque sabes que tienes capacidad de sobra. A partir de enero me vas a entregar todo lo que te pida y como te lo pida, porque si no, pequeño, estás perdido. No ahora, seguramente te sacarás el título. Lo sabes tú y lo sé yo.

Pero a mí me importas de verdad porque nuestra relación no se acaba cuando cumplas dieciséis, yo he firmado contigo un contrato de por vida.
