ESO 1 - Oral Presentation Assignment

Dear ESO 1 students,

After our Easter holiday break, we are back… online! Although these were atypical holidays for all of us, I hope you were able to get some fun out of it.

I will now proceed to explain the details for your next assignment:

The next task involves an oral presentation. You will have to give a speech for at least 5 minutes on a topic of your choice. You must use some visual aids, such as Power Point, Prezi, Google Docs, Adobe, or any other presentation software you feel comfortable with. Once you are done with your Power Point (or such) and you have gained enough practice on your speech, you must record yourself (you may use a mobile phone, a camera...) and send the clip to labor.teacher@gmail.com. Recordings must be sent to the aforementioned address by Sunday 26th April. Hence, you will be working on this project during two weeks, those lessons that will be missed on the 15th, 16th,17th, 22nd, 23rd and 24th April. Note that it is vital that both you and your visual aids appear on screen, as I will be assessing the following items:

- Presence: the speaker maintains good eye contact with the audience and is appropriately animated (gestures, moving around etc.).

- Language skills: correct usage of the language, appropriate vocabulary and grammar, fluency and clear, audible voice.

- Organization: clear logical structure.

- Mastery of the subject:  the student is familiar with the contents, the presentation contains accurate information and it is spoken, not read!

- Visual aids: the presentation software contains enough slides to support the oral speech; the slides are not loaded with boring amounts of illegible text but amusing images and short pertinent headlines and brief information written in a proper font size and colour to support the speaker.

- Deadline: the submission deadline is met.

Since you have already performed several presentations in Galician classes during the 1st and 2nd term, you should have an idea on how to give a quality oral speech. In any case, should you have any queries, doubts, suggestions, difficulties or comments of the sort, please, email me at labor.teacher@gmail.com.

Best regards,

Raquel
