ESO 2, 3 & 4: Unit 6 revision tasks

ESO 2, 3, 4 Students,

These are your UNIT 6 REVISION tasks.

You must DOWNLOAD THE FILES posted below and you will have to solve them on your computer (if you aren't able to download them on your computer, try a different one or on a tablet; don't download them on your mobile phone: it won't work properly). Don't try and open them without downloading them first!

PLEASE USE A DIFFERENT FONT COLOUR AND/OR BOLD TYPE TO SOLVE THEM.

Then, you have to send that file back to me at labor.teacher@gmail.com.

When you sit down to work on these tasks, make sure you have your student's book on your table or desk: in order to solve them, you will need to revise the vocabulary, grammar and irregular verbs sections you will find in your workbook. All these activities are planned so that you do a little bit every weekday. Don't try and do them all in just one go!

Do not send me any photographs of your notebooks or workbooks. Just return a *.pdf file (as many of you have trouble sending *.doc files and every word processor can convert an *.odt, *.doc, *.docx or *.mht to pdf format easily and swiftly) to me once you have solved it. REMEMBER TO IDENTIFY YOUR FILE before sending it back to me.

Just in case, if you have any trouble, click on this link to convert to your files to *.pdf format online.

YOU MUST IDENTIFY YOUR FILE AS FOLLOWS:

Class_Number_Name_1stSurname.pdf
Example: 4A_1_Alfonso_Carballo.pdf

The deadline will be Saturday 6th June (as I will be publishing the answers and reinforcement activities for units 4-5-6 on Sunday 7th).

No files will be admitted after the deadline.

Click on the links below to DOWNLOAD your tasks for week 7 (unit 6 revision, Sunday 31st May - Saturday 6th June).

Don't forget to download last week's correct answers and check if your own were correct.
I'll be happy to solve any doubts you have.

President Barack Obama's Graduation Speech to the Class of 2020

ESO 4 Students,

In less than a fortnight you will have to submit your links (remember, no videos to download, only links to some video platform) with your graduation speeches. If you need any ideas on rhythm, speed, pause, intonation or pose, please watch President Obama's Graduation Speech to you... to the Class of 2020. You won't regret it.

Read the full transcript here:

Hi, everybody. Congratulations to HBCU class of 2020. Michelle and I are so proud of you.

Graduating from college is a big achievement under any circumstances. And so many of you overcame a lot to get here. You navigated challenging classes, and challenges outside the classroom. Many of you had to stretch to afford tuition. And some of you are the first in your families to reach this milestone. So even if half of this semester was spent at Zoom University, you’ve earned this moment. You should be very proud. Everybody who supported you along the way is proud of you – parents, grandparents, professors, mentors, aunties, uncles, brothers, sisters, cousins, second cousins, and cousins who you aren’t even sure are cousins. Show them some gratitude today.

ESO 4: Graduation Speech New Plan

ESO 4 students,

Due to the current lockdown situation, your previous graduation speech plan and schedule must be modified. This is the new plan.

You still have to write your graduation speech in English and follow the same formatting rules already stated (the font must be 'Century Gothic', size 12; 1.5 line spacing, justified text, page numbers at the bottom centre of each page.)

Before 23:59:59 on Friday 15th May your speech in a PDF file has to reach our e-mail. Your file name MUST be as follows:

Class_Number_Name_1stSurname.pdf - Example: 4A_1_Alfonso_Carballo.pdf

Then you must record a video of yourself delivering your speech (you may use a mobile phone, a camera, etc.) and upload the clip to YouTube, Google Drive, WeTransfer, etc. and send the link to me by e-mail (all you have to do is make sure you create a private channel on any of those platforms so that only you and I can have access to your videoclip and keep it completely private.)
Do not send your videos, only their link.
I must be able to watch the videos online without downloading them!!
I WILL NOT DOWNLOAD ANY VIDEOS WHATSOEVER.

The deadline is Friday 29th May at precisely 23:59:59.

Remember:

Previous Year Resit English

ESO 2, 3 & 4 Students,

This is a message to students who have to resit previous schoolyear English (Inglés pendiente de años anteriores: 1 student from ESO 2A and 1 from 2B; 3 from ESO 3B; and 4 from ESO 4B).

You have to download one of the files below, SOLVE ALL THOSE ACTIVITIES ON YOUR PC and send that file back to labor.teacher@gmail.com; the deadline is Friday 29th May at precisely 23:59:59.

You must not print the file and solve it in your notebook. DO NOT SEND ANY PHOTOGRAPHS OF YOUR ACTIVITIES IN YOUR NOTEBOOK, just the .doc file as an attached file in an e-mail.

You must identify your file as follows:

NUMBER_CLASS.doc; examples: 4_2A.doc, 6_3B.doc or 8_4B.doc

These are your files:

ESO 1 - Oral Presentation Assignment

Dear ESO 1 students,

After our Easter holiday break, we are back… online! Although these were atypical holidays for all of us, I hope you were able to get some fun out of it.

I will now proceed to explain the details for your next assignment:

The next task involves an oral presentation. You will have to give a speech for at least 5 minutes on a topic of your choice. You must use some visual aids, such as Power Point, Prezi, Google Docs, Adobe, or any other presentation software you feel comfortable with. Once you are done with your Power Point (or such) and you have gained enough practice on your speech, you must record yourself (you may use a mobile phone, a camera...) and send the clip to labor.teacher@gmail.com. Recordings must be sent to the aforementioned address by Sunday 26th April. Hence, you will be working on this project during two weeks, those lessons that will be missed on the 15th, 16th,17th, 22nd, 23rd and 24th April. Note that it is vital that both you and your visual aids appear on screen, as I will be assessing the following items:

- Presence: the speaker maintains good eye contact with the audience and is appropriately animated (gestures, moving around etc.).

- Language skills: correct usage of the language, appropriate vocabulary and grammar, fluency and clear, audible voice.

- Organization: clear logical structure.

- Mastery of the subject:  the student is familiar with the contents, the presentation contains accurate information and it is spoken, not read!

- Visual aids: the presentation software contains enough slides to support the oral speech; the slides are not loaded with boring amounts of illegible text but amusing images and short pertinent headlines and brief information written in a proper font size and colour to support the speaker.

- Deadline: the submission deadline is met.

Since you have already performed several presentations in Galician classes during the 1st and 2nd term, you should have an idea on how to give a quality oral speech. In any case, should you have any queries, doubts, suggestions, difficulties or comments of the sort, please, email me at labor.teacher@gmail.com.

Best regards,

Raquel
