ESO 1: UNIT 1 REVISION

Dear ESO 1 students,

As your unit 1 exam is due on Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th, here you have some notes about the grammar and vocabulary studied along this unit which will help you revise at home:

GRAMMAR:

Personal pronouns.
Be: present simple affirmative, negative and questions.
Wh- pronouns: questions with the verb be.

Remember:
We can replace subject pronouns by names:
He's handsome = Brad Pitt's handsome
She's very inteligent = María's very intelligent
It's clever = My cat's clever
They are in the box = My books are in the box

If the subject is singular (we use 's) if it is plural (we use are). Examples:
Is/Are your mum pretty? Your mum=singular=Is she/Is your mum?
Is/Are your bird yellow? Your bird=singular=Is the bird/Is it?
Is/Are Peter a good teacher? Peter=singular=Is Peter/ Is he?
Is/Are these photos from Paris? These photos=plural=Are these photos/Are they?
Answers
Are you a good student? Yes I am                Are you Spanish? Yes, we are
Are you from New York? No, I am not          Are your parents old? No, they aren’t
Is Peter a good teacher? Yes, he is              Are Angelina and Brad married? Yes, they are
Is your mum pretty? Yes, she is

A. Circle the correct option and answer the questions:

Remember:
What=qué/cuál
When=cuándo
Where=dónde
Who= quién
How old=cuántos años
's is the contracted form of is
He's = He is             
She's = She is                      
It's = It is

She's beautiful = My sister's beautiful
It's very big = My dog's very big
They are on the table = My books are on the table

Again, the verb To be always match with the subject:
Who's She?                      Where are Helen and Zoe?
What's this?                      How old are your parents?


C) Order the words to make questions:
